TOUR TO THE BELOGRADCHIK ROCKSThe “Magurata” cave and the “Baba Vida” fortress
The Belogradchik Rocks are unique rock formations, located in the west part of the Front-Balkan Range and includes an area, 30 km long and 15 km wide. This delightful natural phenomenon is sculptured by the flowing rain water and the winds during 200 millions of years, transforming the shapeless rock into sculptures resembling mythical creatures, human silhouettes, animals and birds. These 200-metres high (some of them) rock columns are forming a natural fortress which defensive potential has been exploited since ancient times. |
